My name is Melissa Welz and I have been an educator for over 20 years. I received my undergraduate degree in Music Education from New Jersey City University. I also earned my Master’s Degree in Music Education as well at New Jersey City University. I will be completing my Educational Technology Leadership Doctorate degree come May 2025.  My career began in Cliffside Park, NJ where I worked for a music academy teaching voice class, kindermusik, and musical theater. 

In 2007, I started teaching vocal music in the North Bergen School District. My school choruses have been award nominated, sung live on Fox 5’s Good Day New York morning show, opened up for Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular shows, and was of the first choirs to showcase an online music video choir ensemble piece during Covid-19 pandemic shutdown.

I presently teach music in the North Bergen School district and am a program supervisor at NJCU Proyecto STEM Summer Science Program. In 2015, I opened up my own business called Karamelz Shop where I make my own beauty products. I also love creating makeup videos to promote self awareness in our world.
